Bleeding Knees Club

FACEBOOK EVENT

Information courtesy of Bleeding Knees Club.

"Who the f:/ck are Bleeding Knees Club?" -

It's a question more and more folks have been asking since party-hardy duo Jordan Malane and Alex Wall burst out of the Gold Coast at the tail-end of 2010.

An irrepressible garage-pop 'n' surf-punk pair, Bleeding Knees Club have won hearts and minds through a reckless live reputation and, on the recorded front, with a swag of super-catchy tunes on their debut EP "Virginity".

This year has seen them tour nationally with Wavves, Lightspeed Champion and Gold Fields, as well as play the Gold Coast date of the Big Day Out.

Their EP cuts "Have Fun" and "Bad Guys" have been flogged on Triple J and public radio, and "Have Fun" even infiltrated the world of high-street fashion when it was hand-picked to soundtrack a TV ad for Myer's Miss Shop.

Bleeding Knees Club are now getting ready to take their rip-roaring attitude global! They head to the UK in May for some club dates, as well as an appearance at famed Brighton festival The Great Escape. After that, it's off to New York City to record their debut album with new BFF Dev Hynes (Lightspeed Champion and Blood Orange) as producer.

Before they jet, they'll be bringing the party to a small sweaty venue near you one more time. Get ready to get loose!

RUSSIAN KIDD [EP LAUNCH]

Electro, indie, smooth, pop, dirty, rock... are just some of the many ways to describe a new, fresh flavor in town, called Russian Kidd. This 4-piece Gold Coast band brings new meaning to the word versatility, as it boldly creates a hybrid between genres, shocking its enthused audience one show at a time.

The band proves versatility, not only through the use of eclectic beats and refreshingly melodious vocals, but through four talented musicians with four different backgrounds and four different musical influences that blend perfectly into one riveting and addictive sound.

Like the delicious aftertaste of a titillating Caprioska, Russian Kidd leaves the crowd lingering for more of their powerful drums, sharp melodies, catchy electro hooks, thumping bass lines, intricate harmonies and mind-blowing guitar solos. The band, which has been playing together for a year and a half, believes that the music and lyrics of each song tell a story that any individual can relate to.

Their formidable energy on stage demonstrates a certain confidence slightly reminiscent to that of Two Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party. Through their performances on stage one certainly notices a sharpness that is graceful yet shocking. It is also not hard to see that there is an air of certainty in their music and a passion for what they do.

Whether it is the result of a cohesive vision, an acclaimed dynamic balance or a willingness to explore, it is with complete certainty that anyone who attends a Russian Kidd show will end up leaving purely satisfied, with a smile on their face and a beat in their step.

Their self-titled debut EP, set to launch on the 24th of April, 2011 at Elsewhere Night Club, is something that all music-lovers should look forward to. Look out!

SOUNDTRAFFIK

Offering a unique explosion of dance music fused by rock, pop, electro and tech elements. Based on the Gold Coast, Soundtraffik is comprised of Ben (producer, guitar, keyboard), Giv (producer, electric drums) & Jason (Vocals).

Having scored a second remix release on Sharam Jey’s German Label; King Kong Records, Soundtraffik's crossover sound is drawing recognition from labels around the world.

BIXBY CANYON

Bixby Canyon are harsh and grungy. Their frontman probably needs a bigger stage, even with the mic stands moved onto the floor he’s bouncing off his bandmates and running off to do a lightning lap of the half-empty room. Their unassuming bass player looks like Michael Cera, so it’s an impressive surprise when he steps up to the mic and screams like his guts are on fire. - Jody Macgregor - Rave Magazine Feb 2011

PIRATES ALIVE

Gold Coast surfers Michael, Jarryd and Sam have collaborated to form a splendid trio - by the name of 'pirates alive'. Their surf/garage flavour is influenced by artists from The Doors and Pink Floyd to The Beautiful Girls and Angus Stone, a mix which will leave you rocking and perhaps a bit stunned.. The band would come together to jam over a few beers to reach a whole new level of creativity... and through their surf orientated flavour and their love for raw psychadelic solo's a unique sound was made...

http://www.triplejunearthed.com/piratesalive
http://www.facebook.com/piratesalive

YORKE

YORKE have refined their unique sound, drawing from the best parts of their melting pot of influences. The trio found their sound through the songs of southern rock giant’s Kings Of Leon, pop punk legends Jimmy Eat World and alt-rock gods Muse and Biffy Clyro.

Bringing these vastly different influences together to form a single coherent sound has been no easy task, but the product speaks for itself. Swift dynamic changes, crashing choruses and soaring melodies feed the undercurrent of beautiful and heartfelt lyrics.

Yolanda Be Cool. April 1st. Platinum.

FACEBOOK EVENT

Blurb courtesy of Platinum Nightclub:

With one record Yolanda Be Cool have gone straight to the top of the music industry a list.
Their second single – ‘We No Speak Americano’ (co-produced with DCUP) sold over 5 million copies and hit number 1 in 18 countries; infiltrating radio waves, TV shows, and pretty much every dance floor in the world over the summer. You’d need to be a Tarantino assassinated corpse to have not felt its impact in some form.
With a name nodding to the final scene in Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction when Samuel L Jackson’s character shouts “BE COOL YOLANDA!” to the crazed female armed-robber, this renegade order to keep your calm when you hit the big time has now taken on more relevance than ever intended.
Also known as Johnson Peterson and Slyvester Martinez, Yolanda Be Cool have demonstrated that with the panache and production skills to back it up it’s possible to cultivate an international smash hit without the need for a major label vehicle, instead releasing on homegrown Australian indie ‘Sweat It Out’.
With over ten years DJing under their belts their musical influences extend far beyond their Native Sydney, from old school hip hop, to Chicago house to techno to pretty much everything in between. Bondi beach locals at heart, when out of the studio or not playing at the biggest clubs in the world you’ll find them at the beach catching waves.
The distinctly tropical flavour to their productions and fiercely educational attitude to sampling (in the case of We Speak No Americano crate digging as far back as 1950’s Italia) combined with their big room pull to pack out festival stages and mammoth venues, as a dance act, nods more to creative sampling heavyweights like Switch than any of their more current peers.
With demand calling on tours in North and Central America, South America, Australia Asia and Europe in the first half of 2011 and the follow up single to ‘We Speak No Americano’ about to drop plus an artist album in the pipeline while Johnson and Slyvester may be keeping their cool, they’re certainly not resting on their laurels…
Expect big things from these guys in 2011.

No doubt Arcade fire is looking as a hot favourite with most saying "The Suburbs" to be the album of 2010. Can't argue with that.

Linkin Park - "The Catalyst"

Released on August 2nd is the first single off American alternative rock band LINKIN PARK's forthcoming album "A THOUSAND SUNS", due to be released in September, entitled "THE CATALYST". The album is being co-produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin alongside Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda, who previously co-produced Linkin Park's third album MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT.

The song has a very electronic based to it, so possibly a more electronic will be a main feature of the new album. The song is below, and is available on iTunes now, the new album should be out September 14th.
